Gwen D. Herrick
GILBERT, Ariz. – Gwen Dione Dickson Herrick, 91, passed away from causes incident to age on Friday, May 7, 2010.
She was born June 7, 1918 in Morgan, Utah, a daughter of William J. and Annie Belle Creager Dickson. She was one of nine children. She lived in Morgan until she was eight, when the family moved to Ogden where she lived until the death of her husband in May 2004. She then moved to Gilbert, Arizona living with her son and daughter-in-law. She moved to Mtn. Green, Utah living with her daughter and son-in-law, returning to live in Gilbert, Arizona until the time of her death.
Gwen married Lloyd J. Herrick on July 11, 1938 in Eden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, having them for ice cream and sleepovers. She made a great Sunday dinner.
She is survived by her son, Ronald L. (Marlene) Herrick, Gilbert, AZ; daughter, DeAnn (Bruce) Galbraith, Mtn. Green, UT; nine grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are one sister, Nondas Tomlinson, one brother-in-law, Roy Herrick, and two sisters-in-law, Emma Robinson and Margaret Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters, one grandson-in-law and a great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
A visitation will be held at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
