Gwen Rigby Stirland
NORTH OGDEN a" Gwen Rigby Stirland, bridge enthusiast, wife, mother, and grandmother, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at her daughter Lizbeth''s home in North Ogden. She was 86 years old.
Gwen was born July 24, 1921 in Alta, Wyoming, to Willard Eckersley and Grace Green Rigby. After graduating from Granite High School and attending the University of Utah, she married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Russell Nephi Stirland, on January 15, 1942 in Salt Lake City.
After her children were born in Salt Lake City, she moved to Ogden where she raised her family, loved her husband, and formed many long lasting friendships. She loved traveling with her husband, playing bridge and golf with her friends, and spending precious time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lizbeth and Jeff Cleverly, her grandsons, Richard, Scott and David Sneddon, her granddaughter Cami Williams, great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Gracie Sneddon, and brother, Dr. Truman Rigby.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her son, Gregory Russell Stirland, her daughter, Rebecca Stirland, parents and two sisters, Merle and Beth.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
