Gwendolyn (Gwen) Hughes

Gwendolyn (Gwen) Hughes, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in Clearfield of causes incident to age.

She was born January 3, 1913 in Archer, Idaho to Francis M. Pratt and Myrtle G. Young. She married J. Ross Hughes February 21, 1941, later divorced.

She attended Ricks College and graduated from the Jackson School of Dance in Salt Lake City. She had a dancing school for several years. She also attended Henager Business College and Weber State University.

She inherited a love of music from her parents and was an accomplished pianist.

She was employed at the Atomic Energy Commission and Hill Air Force Base. She moved to Atherton, CA where she worked for Hewlett-Packard, Stanford Research Institute and the Dept. of Interior.

She retired in Idaho Falls, ID where she enjoyed doing Genealogical Research and working in the Temple.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Suzan Hughes Checketts, four brothers, Parker, Morris, Grant and Don and two sisters Elda Summers and Terrece Tibbits Lundahl. Survived by one sister, Glennis (Bob) Barker of Layton; two grandchildren Zane Checketts and Stephanie Hubble.

Family graveside services were held at Brigham City Cemetery.
