Gwendon LaRay Hatch
LAYTON a" Our beloved and courageous father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend died peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 21, 2011.
Gwendon was born on July 17, 1928 in Koosharem, Utah to Leston and Chloe Schaugaard Hatch. He was the fifth of six children. He married his sweetheart NaDean Taylor on December 31, 1949. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple.
Gwendon was hard-working, industrious and adventurous. He worked from early childhood, drove a coal truck as a teenager and retired from Hill Air Force Base after 35 years. He was an inspirational Little League baseball coach. He believed in every boy on his team. He served and gave in many ways to his community and church. He treasured his lifetime hunting and fishing license and continued to hunt through his 81st year. Gwendon was never idle; he was creative and always had a project underway. He was a sportsman, horseman, craftsman, outdoorsman, mechanic, pilot, inventor, artisan, Utes fan and devoted family man.
Gwendon is survived by his two sons Kim and Kellan and their wives Melanie and Lily. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Randy, Natalie, Ricky, Evan and Elliot and seven great-grandchildren, the last of whom was born on Gwendon''s birthday.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 25, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Fremont City Cemetery.
