H. Gilbert Payne LAYTON - Our dear sweet husband, father, grandpa and brother returned home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 due to a heart attack surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 20, 1940 to Hyrum F. and Sylvia Smith Payne in Tremonton, Utah. He attended Bear River High School. Gilbert married Audrey Miller in 1958 they later divorced. He married Carolyn J. Ainge on September 5, 1992. Together they raised eight children and a granddaughter, Keauna. He was a member of the Summerfield LDS Church where he was just made an Elder. Gilbert was a brick mason for over 50 years. He liked to Rodeo, fishing, camping, cooking, woodworking but most of all he liked the time he got to spend with his family. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Payne of Layton; children: Wesley (Wanda) Payne, Ted Payne, Sandi (Brian) Crews, Karla (Dennis) Carlson, Don (Erika) Trujillo, Mike (Cindy) Trujillo, Laurie Jones, 29 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, brother and sisters, Jay (Joyce) Payne, Ida Gross, Erma Bills, Shirley (Larry) Blanchard, Gay Payne, and Don Cunningham. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Lydell Gilbert Payne, great-grandson Weston Lee Payne, sister Erna Ellen Cunningham, brothers, Ray Payne, Harold Bills, nephew Bobby, nieces Carol and Brenda. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Layton Stake Center, 60 West Gordon Avenue. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to offset funeral expenses. Dad, We are going to miss and love ya, till we meet with you again.
