Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, H. Lee Rowell, 87, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014, in Salt Lake City, UT.

Lee was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. Only son of Herman Lee Rowell and Elizabeth Stocksdale Rowell. Lee graduated from High Mowing School in Wilton, NH. He received his B.A. degree in Biology, Psychology, and History from Gettysburg College in PA. He furthered his studies at Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University and graduated from University of Baltimore Law School. He continued his education in law at Pepperdine University School of Law.

Lee worked as a government affairs lobbyist for the Financial Services Industry. He was Vice President and Director of Government Affairs for Avco Financial Services in Irvine, CA. Lee was very active in state and national financial industry associations all over the US, serving in executive capacities. He was highly respected by his colleagues and a friend to all.

Lee married the love of his life, Marlene, on January 16, 1988 in Corona Del Mar, CA. Together, they enjoyed traveling, fund-raising, and were both very active in local and national politics. Lee was an avid golfer, with a beautiful swing and a 2 handicap.

Lee is survived by his wife, Marlene, of 26 years; his best friend, Kody-Bear; step-daughter, Teri Thompson (Michael), step-son, Todd Weatherly; grandchildren: TJ (Vicki), Todd, Tawni, Anna, Lori (Austin), Weston; great-granddaughters: Aly and Molly; and special friends, Duke, Julia, KayDee and Meagan. He was preceded in death by his son, Bentley, daughter Katherine and best buddy, Boomer.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the LDS Crestwood Stake Center, 855 E. Mutton Hollow Rd., Kaysville, UT. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.

Special thanks to the EMT’s and health care professionals who cared for Lee at Salt Lake Regional Hospital and to Chaplain Debra Hampton for her love and kindness.
