Hadley Theodore “Ted” Reniker, surrounded by his family, left his earthly burdens for a better place on Friday, July 29, 2016.
Ted was the oldest of three boys born to Hadley Theodore Reniker, Sr., and Georgia May Peers on November 7, 1935 in Phoenix, Arizona. When he was about nine years old his parents divorced and he and his brothers went to live with their grandparents for about three years. Later they rejoined his mother and her new husband and his step-sister.
He attended Miami Jackson Junior High School and graduated from Effingham High School in Effingham, Illinois, in 1954. After high school, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Camp Gordon, GA. He trained to be a Field Radio Repairman. He spent some time in Alaska and told us many tales of trying to keep equipment running 24-hours a day so the engines would not freeze up. His last stint was at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he was given an honorable discharge. After the Army he moved to Chicago and attended DeVRY Technical School between 1958 and 1960. He also worked part-time as a bus driver.
His first job was a Hugh Aircraft in Los Angeles. Over the course of 30 years he has worked for IBM, National Semiconductor, Iomega, and Thiokol as an electronic technician.
He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1963 and served in various positions, including Ward Clerk, Primary teacher, and served a mission as a Baptismal Coordinator.
He met his wife, Edith LeJean Hansen, in San Francisco. They were married in Carson City, Nevada on January 1, 1966. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They have been married 50 years and had three children.
He loved to read, work crossword puzzles, bowl, take picture, work on his computer and did television repair on the side. He also played the saxophone in high school.
He is survived by his wife, LeJean; son David (Racquel); daughter, Dana (Keith); eight grandchildren, two-step grandsons, one great-grandson, his brother, William; and a half-brother, Wilbur. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Annette; his brother, John; and three half-sisters.
