FARMINGTON a" On Saturday, December 8, 2012, our well-loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. He fought a long, courageous battle with chronic pneumonia, COPD, and congestive heart failure. He is now at peace, and free of pain and suffering.
Hal was born in Farmington, Utah, on November 19, 1933, to John Kershaw Brown, and Helen Faye Brown. He was their first child, and was followed by a sister, Joan (Daniel Benton), 18 months later. Hal became his father''s fishing partner almost from the time he learned to walk, and had a deep love for fishing, hunting, and the outdoors all of his life.
Hal went to Davis High School, where he enjoyed playing football and a lot of hi-jinks with his friends. He worked in the floor covering business for many years, owning his own business for a good part of the time. In about 1977, he went to work for Holy Cross Hospital in their maintenance department, and retired from there in 1995.
On June 8, 1952, Hal married Lou Jean Flint. They had three children: Dirk Kershaw (Jackie), Kristi Susan (Wayne Felix), and Flint Kershaw (Ilene). They later divorced.
On March 4, 1994, Hal married Elaine Foerster Smith. With this marriage, he gained three step-daughters: Alicia (Scott Singleton), Mindy Runnels, and Carrie (Kenton Pies). Their marriage was later sealed in the Bountiful Temple. Together, they have 17 grandchildren, and 13 A½ great-grandchildren.
Hal was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Elaine, and all of his children and grandchildren whom he loved and enjoyed. He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Rock Chapel, 272 N. Main Street. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
