Hal Adams Cowley

Hal Adams Cowley, 88, died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at his home in Murray, Utah. He was born December 31, 1925 in Layton Utah, the son of Wallace William and Alta L. Adams Cowley.

He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a Seaman First Class on the U.S.S. Metcalf Destroyer in the South Pacific.

Hal married Mary Lou Jones, of Ogden, on August 24, 1948.

After graduating with honors from the University of Utah School of Pharmacy, he worked at the family owned Kowley Drugstore in Layton the majority of his career.

His hobbies were horseback riding, skiing and spending time on his oldest brother’s ranch in Wyoming.

Surviving are his wife and beloved children Dana and Ryan Cowley and granddaughters Brice and Jessica Gribble. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanford, William, Dr. R. Adams and Kermit.

Hal was buried in the family plot at the Kaysville City Cemetery, September 4, 2014.

Services were entrusted to Norris Nalder at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.  A luncheon was held in Layton at the original Adams/Cowley home for a time of remembrance.
