Hal Martell Ewing
SYRACUSE – Hal Martell Ewing, 74, returned home to his Heavenly Father on September 5, 2007 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 15, 1933 in Amalga, Utah the son of Martell and Viola Ewing.
He attended North Cache High School and later earned his Bachelors degree in Accounting.
He married Theo “Bester” on May 17, 1967. They later solemnized their marriage in the Ogden LDS Temple. Hal was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest. He served in many positions.
Hal worked as an accountant for Flint’s Plumbing and Heating for over 30 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and gun collector. He loved reminiscing about racing his 1967 Barracuda. Hal was a pitcher for the Smithfield Blue Sox and enjoyed many years of sports, playing baseball and basketball developing many strong friendships. He also loved coaching. He spent many years coaching his daughter’s softball team along with coaching many men’s teams.
Hal was a loyal Denver Bronco fan and attended several games. He made friends wherever he went including the local McDonalds where he was such a regular his order was on the screen as he pulled up.
The joy of his life was time spent with his grandchildren. He loved giving them nicknames and they had a special handshake. They spent many hours throwing the football together.
Hal “Bamps” was a huge part of his children and grandchildren’s lives, family gatherings, important moments as well as their day to day activities. It is impossible to express how much he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Theo, children; Chris (Scott) Bybee, Vickie (Terry) Ward, Scott (Sherry) Ewing, Nancy (Kirk) Morley, Larry Henderson, Geri Ewing, Debi (Mike) Harper, Rod (Pam) Henderson, mother Viola, brother Wayne (Diane) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Martell, sister Darlene and son Douglas Brad.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
