Hal Arthur LaFleur, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 17, 2011 surrounded by family.
He was born August 14, 1933 in American Fork, Utah to Charles and Mildred LaFleur.
He married his sweetheart Marjorie Lorene Archibald on February 18, 1953 in Ogden. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple, and remained virtually inseparable thereafter.
Hal attended Ogden High School. He later obtained his GED while serving in the US Navy from 1950 to 1953. He was assigned to the Pacific Fleet and truly did see the worlda"Hawaii and Guam were two of his favorite locations. After serving his country, he became a career civil servant working at Hill AFB, during which time he received numerous awards for his suggestions for improving operations, retiring in 1973. Throughout his life Dad was always busy working hard (many second jobs), learning (Associate Degree, WSC) and raising his family. He was dedicated to his family and was a true entrepreneur and Renaissance Man. He loved flying, camping, fishing, hunting, real estate investing, treasure hunting, leather-working, and collecting things.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings. He particularly loved singing and his participation in the ward choir.
Hal was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader and very health oriented. He enjoyed helping and was always there to lend a hand and share his knowledge with family, friends and others. He loved spending time with his grandchildren helping them to learn and do, while watching them grow into responsible adults. He was always looking forward, and seemed to enjoy most the anticipation of things to come.
While we take comfort knowing he is celebrating a reunion with his eternal sweetheart, he will be dearly missed by his children: Debbie Smith of South Ogden; Hal (Jayne) LaFleur of MN; Pam (Jim) Smith of Plain City; Cindee (Tim) Rasmussen of Layton; 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; his brothers Bus (Ruth) LaFleur and Jerry (Mickey) LaFleur and sister Jeanne Thorpe; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and one great grandpuppy. Preceding Hal in death were his wife Lorene, his parents, and his brothers Charles and Jack.
Our family wishes to thank all who lovingly served our parents these past few years.
