Hank Hiromi Ishizuka

Hank Hiromi Ishizuka 3-5-1927 to 6-3-2012

Hank Ishizuka peacefully went home to God after fighting with pulmonary fibrosis for over a year. Hank was born in Honolulu "Oahu", Hawaii to Hikosaburo Ishizuka and Shigi Mishina. After serving in the Army for 4 years, Hank stayed on as a civilian working as a machinist at the Tooele Army Depot for 20 years before being transferred to Olympia, Washington. From there, Hank was sent to Sacramento, California where he called home for over 30 years until he moved back to Utah in 2010.

He met the love of his life, Miyuki Doi Miyoko in 1950. Hank loved to go fishing and was an enthusiastic bowler. After Hank received the news of his terminal diagnosis, he refused to quit living. Hank taught himself to knit and crochet. He became an avid reader and read over 100 books on his Nook. Once he finished a book he couldn''t wait to start a new one. Hank lived for his family and his dogs. There were several days he felt he couldn''t go on, but he fought hard and even his doctors were surprised he was doing so well.

Hank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Miyuki "Mickie", his daughter Susanne Miyoko Makishi, his son Gene (Beth) Ishizuka, his youngest daughter Julia (Ed) Meier, five grandchildren, Michael Walters, Rachael Walters, Leslie Meier Montgomery, Shawna Meier Werner, Benjamin Ishizuka and five great-grandchildren.

We would like to thank IHC Hospice, Erin and Raelynn, for all the loving care, support, and comfort they have given and especially Carolyn Krey, whom Hank truly adored.

Cremation entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
