Harold J. Ivie
Our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather, Harold J. Ivie of Washington Terrace passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at McKay-Dee hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20, 1934 to Jerome and Calla Penney Ivie. Harold grew up in Lynndyl, Utah and attended Delta High. He graduated from Provo High School Class of 1952.
He married his sweetheart, Vera May Bailey on June 9, 1951. Their vows were later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on October 2, 1952.
Harold and Vera enjoyed his work with the Union Pacific Railroad as it allowed them to move across the western states and make new friends. He worked for the railroad for 40 years as a supervisor and superintendent.
After retiring at 56 he went to work for 12 more years for Rick Franklin Corporation in Lebanon, Oregon as an advisor.
Harold and Vera spent 35 years learning and teaching the 12-step program to help others overcome addiction. They also served an LDS mission at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Among other church callings, Harold was the 2nd Counselor in the Legacy Branch Presidency.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vera May Bailey Ivie; five children; Cynthia (Robert) Knudsen, Shauna (Brent) Shaw, Jerold (Valerie) Ivie, James (Michelle) Ivie, and Ryan (Tara) Ivie; 28 Grandchildren and 36 Great-grandchildren.
He will always be remembered by his wife, children and grandchildren for his tender hearted and loving nature. He made each and everyone feel loved and special as they built timeless memories together.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 13th Ward, 4481 South 300 West. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
