Harold L. Maes

Harold L. Maes, a beloved husband, father, passed away on September 30, 2023, at his residence in Layton, Utah. He was born on February 8, 1937, in Alamosa, Colorado to Rose and Antonio Maes. 

Harold's career spanned an impressive 32 years as an aircraft mechanic at Hill AFB.  Prior to his career at Hill AFB, Harold served four years in the United States Air Force.

Harold's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his marriage to Barbara C. Martinez in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. and his three children.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Maes; their son Mark (Sheri) Maes of Layton, UT; daughter Pamela Smith (Brian) of Illinois; son Patrick (Annie) Maes of Salem, OR; sisters Linda Smith of Alamosa, CO and Susan (Arnold) Gallegos also of Alamosa, CO; as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Antonio Maes; his beloved stepfather A.J. Smith; brothers Ted and Tony Maes; as well as his brother-in-law Arnold Gallegos. 

A public thanks to Symbii Hospice Care fo all their help and especially Shanna Fowers who traveled a great distance to provide Harold a blessing in his time of need.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thuesday, October 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Thursday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
