Harold Perkins

January 30, 1919 — April 6, 2018

Harold Coombs Perkins was a good, hard working man who has completed his journey on earth and returned to be with his loved ones who have gone on before.

Harold was born to Mamie Coombs and William Perkins at their rock home in Farmington, Utah, on January 30, 1919, and was the 2nd child of nine children.

At about three years of age his family moved to Kaysville, Utah, where he lived 99 plus years - except during the time he honorably served his country in the Navy on the USS Stormes during World War II.

He married Ruth Bone on May 25, 1940, and was later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.  They were married for 74 years until the time of her death in 2014.  They had four children, but only raised three because their first daughter died at six weeks.  Harold served for many years in the Ogden and Bountiful temples.

Harold was instrumental in bringing the JC’s to Kaysville and helped provide many community services, including erecting the Christmas star on the mountain and placing the first house number in Kaysville.  Later in the Exhausted Roosters and Hens he made lifelong friendships.

He attended Davis High School and BYU, and went on as a sales man at a Buick dealer in Bountiful. He later worked at the Arsenal, Navy Base, and Hill Air Force Base where he retired.

Harold was very industrious.  He could fix or build most anything, and in most cases was self-taught or learned by watching others.  He built a boat, two cabins, his homes, and helped his children and many others build and remodel their homes.  He was a perfectionist in all he did, and was an artist in his rock masonry, cabinet, and finish work.

He was also an outdoorsman who liked to boat, water ski, fish, and hunt.

He is survived by his sons Gary (Helen) Perkins, Lynn (Gaylene) Perkins, daughter Penny (Gene) Perry, 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, sisters Beverly, Marsha, brother Vaughn, and brother-in-law Wayne Bone.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Margaret, four grandchildren, sister Elaine, and his  brothers Merrill, Dean, Gene and Odell.
