Harriet Bateman Alvord

Harriet Bateman Alvord, 97, passed away December 4, 2007. Mom was born in South Jordan, Utah but was raised in Burley, Idaho. Because of the Depression, Mom''s family moved to Ogden in 1931.

Mom was born February 10, 1910, to George A. Bateman and Ivy Garside Bateman. She was the fourth of ten children. Mom is survived by four sisters: Dean Hammon, Muriel Maw, Helen Brown, and Larae Bateman.

Mom married our father Thern Alvord in 1944. They began their life together in Washington Terrace and raised four children, Scott and Jeanne Alvord, Taylor; Trent and Peggy Alvord, Ogden; Terry and Craig Wright, Washington Terrace; and Dee and Pam Alvord, North Carolina. Mom had 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Dad passed away in 1992.

Mom worked for the Model Laundry from 1931 to 1975. After retirement her hobby became oil painting. We are grateful for the beautiful pictures she painted. They will always remind us of her.

Mom loved Relief Society and singing in the Washington Terrace 10th Ward Choir.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2007 and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

We as a family express our gratitude to those who showed love and compassion to our mother the last six months of her life.

Our mother was a very humble person, never saying much, but she had a way of letting you know what she expected. Thanks Mother for the example you were for us.
