Harriet Joan Krumbach Stark
1924 ~ 2018
Our loving mom Joan, died from complications of Alzheimer’s at age 93, March 10, 2018.
Joan was born in New York City, to Harry and Edith Sievering. She spent her childhood in Crestwood, New York with fondest memories of family weekends at Jones Beach. Mom attended Syracuse University earning a bachelors in business. She met her first husband Ronald Krumbach while he was attending medical school sponsored by the Air Force. The military moved her young family to Minnesota and Texas before they settled in Ogden.
Joan loved athletics and outdoor adventures her entire life being an avid skier, swimmer, tennis player, golfer, and hiker.
After Ron’s untimely death in 1981, Mom was lucky to find happiness again with her second husband, attorney LaVar “Bud” Stark. They married in 1986 and together they enjoyed a full active life adding traveling, owning dogs, and frequently dining at Rainbow Gardens to her activities list. They were a dynamic duo and each was the others best friend.
Bud died in 2011 leaving Joan to the care of her Schnauzer, Pippin.
We will remember mom for her beauty, creative mind, dogged independence, zest, passion, and her daily crossword puzzle.
Joan is survived by her three children, Kathie (Bart) Nilson, Keith (Laura Hamblin) Krumbach, and Kristie (Sam Wilson) Krumbach; sister, Edith Young; four grandchildren, Scott (Becky) Nilson, Christian (Julie) Nilson, Jodie (Rick) Stratford, and Jennie (Stu) Gibby; and great-grandchildren, Jake, Tessa, Anne, Ella, Luke, Jens, Naomi, Charlie, Jack, Mary, Noah, Josh, Sadie, Katie, Abby, Blake, Sam, Katie, Mollie, and Ellie.
