Harry Earl (Bill) Eggleston

Harry (Bill) Eggleston passed away at home on Saturday morning, December 31, 2016 with his wife by his side.
He was born on May 15, 1925 in Ogden, Utah, the only son of Harry Earl and Eva Lynham Eggleston. Bill was raised in the Ogden area and graduated from Ogden High School in 1943.
Bill married Leah Thompson on September 8, 1950. He was a great husband and companion for Leah, they were married for 66 years and resided in Roy for 63 years.
Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 10, 1944 and was Honorably Discharged on March 24, 1946.
He was the manager of Brownings’ Conoco Service Station prior to owning and operating his service station located on the corner of Riverdale Road and Washington Blvd. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and the U.S Postal Office and retired from Hill AFB after 31 years of federal service.
In Bill’s younger years, he enjoyed the outdoors. Weekends were centered around his family – traveling, camping, boating and fishing. He had fun golfing in the HAFB Men’s Association League in the summer and bowling in the winter. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They all dearly loved their dad, grandpa and great-grandpa (ggpa).
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Leah; three sons Harry Brent Eggleston, Wallace Kent (Karie) Eggleston, and Neil Bruce (Marie) Eggleston; one daughter Pamela K Squires; five grandchildren Summer Naisbitt, Kyle Squires, Darek Eggleston, Tana Eggleston and Janna Eggleston; and eight great-grandchildren Hayden and Leah Naisbitt; Caige, Jett and Jace Squires; Ellie, Bree, and Zane Eggleston. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Eva Eggleston. His sisters Norma Higginbotham and Carolyn Shurtliff.
Friends may visit with family on Friday, January 6, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S.
Interment will be at Roy City Cemetery, 2300 West 5300 South.
Bill will dearly be missed, we will always carry our love for him in our hearts.
