Haruko Yamasaki
LAYTON-Haruko Yamasaki 93, passed away on July 22, 2011 at Apple Village in Layton, Utah.
Haruko grew up in Burley Idaho and Jerome Idaho, she graduated from Jerome High School on May 21, 1936.
She married Shunjiro Yamasaki on May 15, 1939, in Bingham Canyon, Utah. They later moved to Layton, Utah and then to Clearfield, Utah.
She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and later at Hill Air Force Base where she retired from in November of 1990.
Haruko was a member of the Ogden Buddhist Church.
Haruko is survived by two daughters, Alice (Jack) Suekawa, Layton, Utah; Betty (Clifford) Nakatani, San Diego, CA; one sister, Irene (Charles) Bishop, Roy, Utah. She has five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, George and Tsuneo Ogata.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Ogden.
