ROY a€" Although our beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, Hazel Child Strong received the kindest and best of treatment, her noble spirit took flight to another sphere on Friday, September 17, 2010.

She was born September 30, 1921 in Hooper, Utah to Ervin L. and Florence Pincock Child. She was raised and educated in Weber County graduating from Weber High School.

On February 11, 1942, Hazel married Alvin E. Strong in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Alvin preceded her in death on April 6, 1983.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the last original member of the Roy Lakeview Ward. She served faithfully in various callings throughout her life, most recently serving as an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.

She enjoyed visiting and traveling with friends, crocheting, working in her yard and being with her family.

Hazel is survived by her children, Connie and Lamont Lyons, son-in-law, James Fisher, Wayne and Cherylanne Strong, Kevin and Kathy Smedley. Also survived by her brother, Charles Child, 12 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter, Carolyn Fisher and two great-granddaughters.

The family wishes to express thanks and appreciation to the Intermountain Home Care Hospice Team for their tender care of Hazel and to her loving and attentive brother, Charles.

Mom will continue to plant flowers all along the way.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24th at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Ward Chapel, 4900 South 2000 West, with Bishop Paul Puzey officiating.

The family will meet friends for a viewing on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
