Heber Max Wilde

August 21, 1944 – March 18, 2020

Max was born August 21, 1944. He was raised in Eureka, Utah and graduated from Tintic High School. He joined the US Air Force serving proudly in the Vietnam War. Max worked for 35 years at Hill Force Base ending his career as a sheet metal supervisor on F-16 aircraft. He could always point out what type of airplane was flying overhead.

He met and married the love of his life, Sue Wilde, in 1984. They were married for 36 years and had two children, Megan and Ryan, who are their greatest pride and joy. They spent many happy times traveling the United States and around the world together. Max was the family handyman and knew how to fix just about anything and would do so with pride. He also knew just about everything regarding cars and you usually could catch him playing an Elvis Presley album in the garage and singing along. Max specially loved the 50’s models cars, one of his biggest dreams was to own one himself and fix it up. He loved to go to the movies, action was his favorite genre and he would go more than once a week.

Max spent the last 18 years living in Asia. Five years in Japan and the last 13 years in South Korea. He loved collecting samurai figurines and traditional Japanese swords. He was always up for an adventure and loved exploring Asia with his family.

In August of 2009, Max and Sue bought their home in Montrose, Colorado where he would spend six months of the year working on his beloved yard and the other six months with Sue back in South Korea. When they were home for Christmas, Max would make sure their yard was the most festive in the neighborhood.

He is survived by his wife Sue Wilde; son, Ryan Wilde; daughters, Megan Wilde, Alesha (Chris) Grimes; brothers, Wayne (Mona) Wilde, Glen (Barbara) Wilde, Vance Wilde; sisters, Sandy Fralix and Wendy Santo.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise; daughter, Kimberly Wilde VanSweden; brothers, Ralph, Jack, Jerry, Lynn, Michael; sisters, Lois, Bonnie and Janice.
