Heidi Jensen Peterson

1969-2021

Heaven shines brighter with the light of Heidi Ruth Jensen Peterson, who peacefully passed away surrounded by family on April 21 after a brief but courageous battle with colon cancer. Heidi was an incredible mix of vivaciousness, beauty, boldness, strength and independence while also being deeply empathetic, generous, creative and kind.  Everyone who knew Heidi was touched and changed for the better as a result of knowing her.

Heidi was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 6, 1969, along with her identical twin and best friend, Heather Gibb.  She grew up in Kaysville, Utah, with her loving parents and 7 siblings, also known as the JENTEN.  She attended Davis High School where she made many lifelong friends and enjoyed dancing with the D'Ettes.  Here she met her sweetheart, Dave Peterson, but their paths went different directions for many years.  In 2006 they reconnected and their love blossomed into marriage in 2007. Thanks to Heidi, DHS reunions were the best!

Heidi loved college life. She loved it so much that she chose to attend several universities throughout Utah, eventually graduating from the University of Utah. During this time she formed friendships that continue today and she was the glue that kept many of those friendships together. Heidi had a very successful career as a corporate recruiter, earning top awards and recognition while helping to change the lives of the many people she placed in the workforce.

Heidi loved peonies, Nordstrom sales, fine dining, reality tv and vacations.  She loved life and celebrating every part of it. The way she celebrated both the monumental and ordinary things in life was magical.  When Heidi walked into a party--or in most cases, welcomed you to HER party--it was always with her warmest smile and radiant personality.  She had an amazing talent and gift for celebrating birthdays, holidays, and showers and assisting with countless weddings due to her talent for flower arranging and decorating.  Her favorite party to plan and celebrate every year was her precious son Easton’s birthday.

Heidi’s last days were endured with courage, grace and, of course, her smile, that was as beautiful on her last day as it was on her first. Her positive attitude in the face of her advanced diagnosis was a legacy that will live in our hearts forever.

Heidi is the loving and devoted wife to Dave Peterson. Heidi found her greatest joy in being a mom to her son Easton and a bonus mom to Chase, Monica and Amanda. Heidi is survived by many who love her beyond words, including her devoted husband Dave; cherished son Easton; bonus-children Monica (John) Garvin, Chase, Amanda (Andrew) Anfossi; parents Bruce and Christine and siblings Dan (Brenda), Heather (Ron) Gibb, Amy (Shawn) Steele, Julie Medeiros, Ryan (Jodi), Megan (Cameron) Hill and Jeff (Alice). She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. Heidi will be missed by all who knew her. We are grateful for the countless memories we cherish and the knowledge that we will be eternally reunited again for yet another celebration that we know she has already begun planning.
