Heiko “Ike” Dallinga, Jr.
WASINGON TERRACE - Ike, our beloved, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the age of 90.
Born in Ogden on April 3, 1918, to Heiko and Christina Van Drimmelen Dallinga, he graduated Ogden High School and Weber College.
Ike married Carma Packer May 21, 1959 and solemnized their vows July 22, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden and Sunset 1st Wards for many years, having served in various callings including his favorite, genealogy.
As a decorated veteran officer of World War II, Ike served in England, France, and Germany and was a Captain in the Army Reserve. After the war, Ike dedicated himself to, and retired from 30 years Civil Service as a Procurement Manager at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
His passion was traveling with his wife, Carma, followed by his interests in bowling, golf, picture painting, hunting and fishing. Two sport accomplishments, Ike was extremely proud of his volunteer participation in the origination of the Hill Air Force Base Golf Course and becoming a championship bowler.
Ike is survived by his brother, John (Jack) Dallinga, son, John Mineer, daughters, Lynette Johnson, Christyann Dallinga Hotmer and three grandchildren, Sean, Melissa and Brittany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Heiko Dallinga and Christina Van Drimmelen Dallinga, wife, Carma Packer Dallinga, sisters, Katherine Dallinga Bradshaw, Bertha Dallinga Stewart, and Shirley Dallinga Tyler.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
