On Thursday, September 2, 2010, Helen Hamblen Draayer, 96, a long-time resident of Clinton, slipped peacefully into paradise to be greeted by loved ones who had gone before. She was the third child born to Robert N. Hamblen and Margaret Firth Hamblen in Riverdale, Utah on December 31, 1913.
She married Claude Walton Draayer on November 21, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died November 19, 1992.
Helen worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. Charles Pennington and Dr. Paul Naisbitt for many years. She also helped on the family farm, and was secretary of the Fife Ditch Company for over 60 years. She was active in the Clinton Wards of the LDS Church, holding various positions.
She was always interested in the accomplishments of her family and friends. She took pride in her home, cars, yard and loved mowing her lawn. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, cryptographs and watching sport events, especially the Utah Jazz. She had a dry wit and could spar with the best of them.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Karen (Art) Ballif, and son Jon Kent Draayer of Clinton. She had six grandchildren, John (Ruff) Bull, Claudia Farish, Becky Dodd, James Bull, Erin Kate Estes and Ronee Draayer, 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Jeanette (Roy) Hatch.
Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, a brother Delbert Hamblen, a sister Jennie Clay and a grandson James D. Bull. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 7th at 12:30 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery. 1875 Monroe Blvd.
The family will meet friends for a viewing on Monday, September 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
