Helen Piper Green

Helen Piper Green FRUIT HEIGHTS – Helen Piper Green, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Mom was born February 13, 1927, in Salt Lake City, to Harry and Cora Bate Piper. She was raised and educated in Salt Lake City schools, graduating from East High in 1944. Attended University of Utah and trained as an x-ray tech at the Old Salt Lake County Hospital. Worked at Ft. Douglas during WW II. Married her eternal sweetheart, Howard Robert Green, August 27, 1946, in Salt Lake City. Marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June 13, 1949. Mom served in many callings in the LDS Church in her younger years. Worked at Hill Air Force Base for 11 years in personnel, where she took much pride in assisting those in need of employment, particularly veterans. She was a proud member of the WW II generation and a true patriot who loved her Country. She was a member of the Kaysville JC's where she gave freely of her time and talents in support of the community. Mom and Dad loved to travel in their motorhome, which they built themselves, especially on fishing expeditions with friends and family on the Madison River. She has sorely missed her sweetheart these past 15 years and must be gloriously reuniting with Dad and all loved ones gone before. She is survived by three sons: Don (Jil), Richard (Merry), David (Janalee), and daughter, Helen Louise (Jack) Kite, all of Fruit Heights; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Her family was Mom's greatest joy. She loved each and every one of us deeply, and was so generous in her expressions of love. She is also survived by her true companion since Dad's passing, her little dog Oscar. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; sister Dorothy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center, 170 North Mountain Road, Fruit Heights. Friends may visit family on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main and Wednesday 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2 Tim 4:7) Helen's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff, nurses, aides, and therapists at Legacy Village of Layton for their continued love and care of our Mom; to the aides and nurses at Legacy Home Health Care and Hospice; and to Jen and Joey of Visiting Angels for the tender and loving care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, Helen respectfully requested those wishing to do so contribute to the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Interment will be at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
