"Together Again"
Helen Louise Steele Hancock
WEST WEBER – Helen Louise Steele Hancock, 82, born October 8, 1924 to Fred and Maude Lund Steele, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at her home in West Weber.
Mom graduated from Weber High School in 1942. She married Max Hancock on August 14, 1942 and was later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.
She was active in Primary, Sunday School, Mutual, Relief Society, and 4-H. She loved to camp, attend sporting events, and being a part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. She loved teaching little children new songs or nursery rhymes.
Mom’s life was centered in the raising of her children, who knew of her unconditional love. Her house was always a home and a safe haven for everyone, always the sitter at a moments notice, always the peace keeper, and always the one to lift your spirits.
She shared her love of music for many years performing at church functions, funerals, family gatherings and singing with her sister in law, Marylou Hancock for over 30 years. She loved playing cards with a group of friends from West Weber for over 46 years and who are still playing to this day.
She is survived by her seven children, Phil S. (Jelene), Cheryl Jean Jenkins (Charles), Michael L. (Marsha), Curtis H. (Pat), Cory B., Mark F. (Jill), Beckie Lee Coyle, her daughter in-law, Sandra Rasmussen, her son in-law, Tom Coyle, and her 30 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, who all knew they were loved by grandma.
Helen was preceded in death by Max her sweetheart for 62 years; two sons, Max J. Hancock and Darrell Dean Hancock; her parents, her brothers, Blaine and Bill Steele, and her great-granddaughter, Grace Hickenlooper.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. at West Weber 2nd Ward, 4100 West 900 South, West Weber.
Friends and family may call Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, West Weber Cemetery
We would like to thank the Alpine Home Care and Hospice for the years they helped Mom, especially Jill Yamashita and Crystal Jones whom Mom loved. Also for the care from her family, she couldn’t have made it this far without their unselfish acts of love and concern.
