Helen Bernice Hodson
Helen Bernice Hodson peacefully passed away August 9, 2014 in Ogden, Utah. Helen was born January 20, 1923 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her parents, Peter and Cebinia Larsen Peterson, her brothers, Jack and Lynn, and sisters, Lucille and Evelyn, grew up in the Idaho Falls area. Helen married Ralph G. Hodson on June 14, 1941 and they made their home in the Ogden and Layton areas. Helen was a member of the Layton 10 th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom loved music and was an accomplished violinist. Mom would use any excuse to cook for us and knew everyone’s favorite cake to bake on their birthday. Many of us still snuggle under the quilts that mom made for us. She was a strong, hard-working lady.
Helen is survived by daughter Christa Kaye (Jeff) Simonsen, son Brett Lee (Sandy) Hodson and son-in-law Quinn Andelin. Grandma Bernice cherished her grandchildren, Shelby, Chris, Eric, Brook, Lucas, Hallie, Alexis, Jellair and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, son Ralph Jr, son Michael, and daughter Della Rae Andelin.
Friends and family may gather in celebration of Helen’s life on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Graveside services and internment will be at Meadow View Cemetery, Eden UT at 12 p.m. on Thursday. Our family would like to give a special thanks to Inspiration Hospice for their compassionate care of mother.
