Helen Johnson

October 28, 1937 — October 26, 2018

Helen Cragun Johnson, age 80, passed away October 26, 2018 in Ogden, Utah surrounded by her husband and children.

She was born October 28, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to Earl B and Mildred R. Cragun. She was raised in Pleasant View, Utah and graduated from Weber High School. She graduated with an Associates Degree from Weber State College and a Bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. She taught school at North Ogden Elementary and Plain City Elementary for 27 years. Helen was a master teacher and is respected and loved by her students still to this day.

Helen is a member of and lived the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She married Harold Raymond Johnson, Jr. on October 19, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and they are the proud parents of four children.

Helen loved to play softball and was an excellent pitcher. She played softball in college and in summer leagues up until she was six months pregnant with her first child. She stopped only when her doctor told her not to slide to second base and that her child would probably be born with a ball cap on his head.

Helen served faithfully in many callings in the church including the young women’s, relief society, and primary. She lived a life of service and over the course of her life made many treats and meals for thousands of neighbors and friends.

Helen served an LDS mission in Thailand with her husband and also served as a temple worker in the Ogden Temple and Bountiful Temple. She followed the Savior’s example by ministering not only to those she was called to serve but to family, friends, neighbors, and students.

Helen is survived by her husband, children, Kelly (Terri), Kirk (Julie), Kory (Cherie), Kristen (Clint) Wayment, 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sisters, Molly Cragun, Janet Woodfield, Norma Rae Liston, Connie Belnap and brother, Brent Cragun.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Rhees Cragun.

Helen is known by her charitable heart. She is loved by her family and all those she associated with.
