Helen Davis Jones
1940-2015
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Helen Engman Davis Jones, age 74, passed away April 20, 2015 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Helen was born April 28, 1940 to Fritz Herbert Engman and Margarete Hoerold Engman in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Vaughn Blake Davis on March 24, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Five children were welcomed into their home; Christy (Michael) Lofgran, Gerald Vaughn (Dawn), Marvin Herbert, Steven Paul (Wendy) and Richard Blake (Kathy). Vaughn passed away in 1990.
Helen married Earl Stanley Jones on November 8, 2002 and she welcomed his four daughters and their families into her life. Teresa (Ricky) Moore, Laura (Stephen) Parker, Linda (Geoffrey) Jensen and Carolyn (Gary) Lee. Helen and Earl have 28 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren with two more on the way. They would hold Family Home Evening in their home once a month, which blended their two families together and created a strong family unit. Helen’s greatest joy was watching her family grow and interact with each other. She looked forward to the annual family camping trip each summer. She loved organizing it but enjoyed participating in it more. Thanksgiving dinner was celebrated the Saturday before so most of their family could celebrate this holiday together.
Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. She had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ which she would bear often, both in words and in deeds to her family and others. She served with Earl in the Bountiful Temple for 11 years and said it was the most memorable and rewarding calling she ever had. She accepted many callings in her wards and stakes.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and brother, George (Thelma) Engman. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Bountiful 20th Ward Chapel, 102 E. 1400 S. Friends may visit family Thurs. April 23 rd from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E and Friday from 11:30-12:30 pm at the Church prior to services. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank those who cared for Helen these past few months with a special mention to the nurses and aides with South Davis Hospice. They were earthly angels attending to our mom and our family.
