Helen Madeline Stackalis Kowalchik, 88, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born December 15, 1921 in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Yanushonis Stackalis. Married Edward Kush July 1942 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Luzerne, PA he died April of 1957. Married Peter Kowalchik in St. Vladimir Ukraman Catholic Church, Edwardsville, PA September 1957 he died in February 2005 in Bountiful, UT.

Helen lived in Luzeren, Cortdale and Pringle, Pennsylvania for 75 years before moving to Bountiful in 1996. She was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Bountiful and member of the Alter and Rosary Society for St. Ann and St. Olaf''s.

She enjoyed gardening, and crocheting which were amazing works of art.

Survived by her sons Raymond A. Kush (Marleen), Peter J. Kowalchik (Carolyn); six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother Athony Stackalis and sister Agnes Dougher both of Luzerne, PA. Preceded in death by her husbands, brother Bill Stackalis; sisters Ann Karlotski, Betty Nevadonski, Mary Zukosky, and Julie Pollick.

Memorial services will be held 11 am Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E. where family and friends may visit from 9:45 a€" 10:45 prior to services. Inurnment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Olaf Catholic School.
