Helen Maria Salas Maestas

Helen Maria Salas Maestas our beautiful mother passed away peacefully on May 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico on August 1, 1926, to her parents, Sabino and Charlotta Salazar. She was one of eight children. She was preceded by all but one brother, Tony (Hope) Salazar.

After she graduated from high school she moved to Utah and met the love of her life Alfred Salas. They were married in June of 1948. Together they had six children, Jim (Olga) Salas, Susan (Arthur) Trujillo, Arthur Salas, Edward (Chiaki) Salas, Thomas (Lori) Salas, and Dora Gomez. She had 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Alfred passed away in June of 1989. She married Gustave Maestas and he also passed.

Our hardworking mother worked for DDO and retired from the Federal Government after working 23 years.

Our mother’s strong faith in God guided her throughout her and her family’s life. She enjoyed her family and being together with each of them. She knew how to make each one of us feel special and loved.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
