Helen Saunders Layton Palmer

Helen Saunders Layton Palmer, 94 years young, passed from this earth Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Ogden, Utah . She was born on November 9, 1919 to John K. and Myrtle Easthope Saunders. She married Wayne C. Layton on November 9, 1938. He died from an accidental death on June 22, 1948. She married Ralph B. Palmer. He passed away on December 9, 1982. She retired from Sears after 24 years of service. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for most of her adult life. With much patience, she valiantly endured macular degeneration and would not give i n t o its effects. She lovingly cared for her daughter, Robyn Jordan until her passing from the result of cancer in 2011. Helen was best known for her sense of humor and positive attitude. In her later life she became the “Pea Pod Poet”. She dearly loved her many friends and the cruises and activities they enjoyed together. She was preceded in death by her brother, Delroy Saunders and wife Leona, Jack Saunders and wife Larelle , a grandson, Brian Pulsipher, and two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Emma Udell .
Helen is survived by son, Ned (Cynthia) Layton ; daughter, Jana (Larry) Pulsipher ; g randchildren, Lee Sanders, Dustin John, Bonni (Jeff) Jones, Jill Harmon, Annette (Ryan) Udell , Diana (Paul) Gilbert, Wayne (Heather) Pulsipher, Kelli (Dave) Quinley , Kristi (Josh) Beazer, C onrad Brooks, and Dennise Simon; and 26 great-grandchildren.
A very special thanks and appreciation to Inspiration Hospice especially Kristie and Angel and the Mt. Ogden Care Center for their loving and compassionate care. By her request she is being laid to rest in a bed of roses.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
