SYRACUSE a€" Helen C. Van Patten, 86, passed away Wednesday February 11, 2009.

She was born October 7, 1922 in Salt Lake City the daughter of Charles Amos and Bessie Martin Cardwell.

She was a member of the LDS Church.

Helen worked for U.P.R.R. Employees Health Systems from June of 1978 to July of 1988, working in Denver, CO and Los Angeles, CA. She then moved to Utah to be close to her family.

Surviving are her sons, Marvin C. (Tammy) Van Patten, Charles F. (Debbie) Van Patten, Clifford C. (Chris) Van Patten, daughters, Sherry (Boyd) Horton, Lori Sowell, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and brother, Charles M. (Verna) Cardwell.

Preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Van Patten, two sisters, Virginia and Mildred.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
