Helen F. Proudfit
OGDEN - Well, there she goes. Anxious to leave her frail body and get on with her next great adventure, Helen Fife Proudfit, our mother, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 20, 2008.
Born in Brigham City, Utah, May 23, 1919, a daughter of Mary Jardine and William Jolly Fife, mother lived in Ogden most of her life.
Helen married Robert L. Proudfit Jr., in 1941 and lived through the tough war years when Robert was reported missing, then returned home safely. Robert died in 1979. Mom was a member of the LDS church, Malan’s Peak Ward, and was an active volunteer at the Ogden Union Station Natural History Museum, the Eccles Art Center and McKay Dee Hospital. She loved meeting visitors from all over the world. Mom was also a member of the Chareya Womens club and a past member of the Junior League of Ogden.
Mother has been spending winters at her home in Henderson, Nevada with family and friends, enjoying the warm weather and bright lights of Las Vegas.
Mom had four sons, a never-ending source of fun and frustration. She is survived by Bob, Doug (Linda), and Matt (Holly) and their families, and daughter-in-law Jane Proudfit, wife of son John who died in 2004. Also surviving are thirteen grand children and twenty three great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly.
Mom lived a healthy and full life, filled with good friends, extensive world travel, and wide-ranging sense of wonder and curiosity. She was graceful, elegant and considerate with a terrific sense of humor.
As a family, we extend our appreciation and gratitude for the love and attention provided mother by friends and the staff at Manor Care and Applegate Hospice.
