Helen Rita Schultz Sorenson, 86, devout Catholic, passed away September 11, 2013 in Bountiful, UT.
Helen was born on July 4, 1927 in Bountiful, UT, the fifth child of six to William John and Catherine Rozella Callahan Schultz. She married Jack Donald Sorenson on December 31, 1951 in Elko, NV. Together they raised four boys in Davis County, UT where she resided her entire life. She was a graduate of Davis High School.
Helen spent her "dash" as a caring and kind mother to her children. Her husband, Jack, passed away in 1976 leaving her to care for their four children. Her love of faith and family kept her strong. She looked forward to enjoying the holidays with her children. She loved spending time with her sisters Kate, Dorothy, Marie and her husband Boyd, whether it be shopping, going to Wendover or vacationing at the Price family cabin in Island Park, ID. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing the game with her sisters Kate and Dorothy and their bowling league. Helen had a special presence about her, she always wore a smile on her face and had a twinkle in her eye. She was a sweetheart to everyone.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her son, Robert J. She is survived by her children, Mark B. Sorenson, Layton, UT; Michael W. (Jolene) Sorenson, Kaysville, UT; Alan D. Sorenson, Centerville, UT; Shelley Sorenson (wife of Robert) Clearfield, UT; sister Marie (Boyd) Pope. She leaves behind nine beautiful grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Althea Adams and Avalon Care Center for their tender care of Mom over the past year.
