Helen M. Van Houten

Helen M. (Pagliaro) Van Houten died peacefully at the age of 92, on Sunday morning, August 26, 2018, at her home. She was born in Helper, UT, on March 2, 1926. She was the oldest daughter of Antonio Pagliaro and Adella Gigliotti.
She married John F. Van Houten on September 29, 1945 and they were married for 58 wonderful years. John passed away on July 12, 2003.
Helen spent 10 years living at St. Anne’s Boarding School in Salt Lake and graduated Valedictorian from Cyprus HS. She lived and worked at HAFB, building and repairing airplane engines during WWII.
She was a devoted Catholic belonging to Holy Family Parish. Helen spent the last three years living at Treeo where she made many friends who will sadly miss her.
She is the mother of three daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Christiansen, Arizona; Karen (Jack) Fawbush, Ogden; and Toni (Brett) Ure, Huntsville. She was also the grandmother to six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Helen is also survived by one sister, Joyce Lowe, Granger, UT.
Helen touched the hearts of so many people, especially her family and many dear friends. She lived her life with courage and determination. She will always be an inspiration to her family, setting the example for us all.
A special thank you to all the many Health Care Providers who administered to her needs and showed her love and patience.
Funeral Services and Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch 1718 Combe Rd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
