Helga Ingrid Schmidt Reed

Helga Ingrid Schmidt Reed, surrounded by family and friends passed away peacefully due to complications of her battle with breast cancer, on Sunday, July 20, 2008.

Born May 13, 1943 in Lorrach, Germany, to the parents of Annie and Eugene Schmidt. Having a rough start in life, losing her mom at age 3, raised by her dad, where later her Aunt/Uncle stepped into help, knowing what a "Special" child she was.

Helga was special, and very blessed in all things she had and done in her life, starting with: Marrying her best friend, the love of her life of 42 years James E. Reed, December 25, 1965 in Las Vegas, NV. "Mother of the Year" is what she became on November 27, 1966 where they were stationed, when she gave birth to "triplets" three baby boys., (each under 5lbs). Helga, loved concerts and music, and lucky for her she had three boys who could sing, she would listen to the tapes they made, and the guitars, they would play for her for hours.

Helga had to learn to speak English to get around in the States, but she never lost her wonderful German accent, her contagious laugh, or her love for life. And lets not forget her sense of humor.

Her greatest characteristics: an unselfish attitude and a willingness to help other. Her door was always open for family and friends with a smiling face. Being a wonderful cook she''s happy to share a meal and a conversation with anyone, that would just make her day.

Helga had a soft spot for animals, her favorite by far, were her dogs. She had many breeds and loved each and everyone. She loved to travel, especially when she went home to Germany to see her family, we Loved it too, she always brought chocolate home.

She made many long life friends while working "Civil Service", and remained working until she had become medically retired.

Helga was never afraid of a good argument, when she thought she was right, (which she thought was most of the time), on the other hand, she was the most kind hearted person, anyone could have had the pleasure to meet.

Helga is survived by her spouse, James Reed, Layton; sons, Richard Reed, TN; Michael (Deanna) Reed, Promontory; James Reed, VT; and 14 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Eugene Schmidt, mother and father-in-law, Alice and Dominick Reed.

There will never be a sunrise that we won''t think of her smiling face, nor a clear starry night that will remind us of the twinkle in her eyes. And every time a soft warm gentle breeze blows, we will know she''s passing by, watching over us. We will love and miss you deeply, till the day we can be with you again. "ish liebadish, oma"
