Henry J. Burke

Henry J. Burke OGDEN – Henry John Burke, 93, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born May 3, 1915 in Ogden, a son of John Henry and Maren Helgeson Burke, who emigrated from Norway. He was the second youngest of five siblings. On June 2, 1937, Henry married Laura Mae Musgrave in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Laura preceded him in death on May 23, 1995. He was a lifelong resident of Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1933. He worked for the Ogden City School District retiring after 33 years of service as a paint foreman. Henry was an avid fisherman and also loved woodworking. Surviving are five children, Grant Burke, Ogden; Lei Lonnie Drake, St. George; Dixie Lee Warren, Roy; Ken Burke, Ogden; Myland Burke, Ogden; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his wife and parents, Henry was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
