Henry Grant Leavitt

April 15, 1925 ~ June 25, 2015

OGDEN – Henry Grant Leavitt, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Emeritus Estates.  He was born on April 15, 1925 in Ogden to Henry Wells and Lulu Bell Shaw Leavitt.  He was a lifelong resident of Ogden where he graduated from Ogden High School.  He served in the U S Army as a flight instructor.

He married Delora Jackson on May 12, 1943, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Grant worked at Hill Air Force Base as an Electronics Equipment Specialist, retiring after 30 years of service.

Grant and Delora enjoyed fishing, camping, square dancing, visiting family and friends in St. George, and entertaining family and friends at their Bear Lake cabin.

He enjoyed serving in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a longtime member of the Mt. Lewis 1 st Ward.

Surviving are four children, Lynda Larsson, Kathy (Kent) Heitz, Bob Leavitt, Don (Georgia) Leavitt, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Leland (Colleen) Leavitt.  Preceding Grant in death were his wife, parents, brothers, Richard and Wells; and one grandson, Jeffrey Larsson and his wife, Shanna.

The family expresses thanks to the staff at Emeritus Estates, and to Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their loving care and dedication and to Tony and Martha Ramirez for being helpful, caring neighbors.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Lewis 1 st Ward Chapel, 435 North Jackson.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
