Henry Albert Ploeger

1931-2019

Henry Albert Ploeger, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather, died November 8, 2019 of heart failure.  Henry was born October 26, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah to John and Gepke Ploeger.  He attended West High School and received a Business Associates Degree at LDS Business College.  He served a mission to the Western States in 1951 and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

Henry was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings, including Bishop, Stake Sunday School Superintendent, High Priest Group Leadership and sunbeam teacher.  He loved family, church and country; the outdoors, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed working to make the outside of his home beautiful.  He worked for Dynapac Rotating for 41 years and enjoyed the association with the employees and customers.  He retired in 2006.

He married Vivian Evans on April 24, 1953.  They had 4 children.  Later divorced.  Married Janet Woffinden Powers on May 12, 1983 in the Jordan River Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Alberta Conrad and Henrietta Brown and brother, H. John Ploeger.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; children: Henry David (Renee) Ploeger, Albert (Diana) Ploeger, Sue (Jay) Colemere, Debra (Ed) Withers, Steve Powers, Dave Powers, Karen Powers, Justin Bowden and Mike (Amanda) Powers; sister, Rene Wing and sister-in-law, AnnaRae Ploeger.

We give gratitude and thanks to Sally and Rachel from Quality Hospice for their dedicated care, concern and comfort.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Bountiful 16th Ward Chapel, 720 E. 550 N.  Friends may visit family Friday, Nov. 15th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Sat. 9:45 – 10:45 am at the Church prior to services.  Interment Lakeview Memorial Cemetery
