SOUTH OGDEN a€" Henry A. Poce, 94, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 25, 1914 in McGill, Nevada to Antonio and Anna Viscogliosi Poce.

Henry graduated from Ogden High School in 1933.

On September 3, 1938, Henry married Alida Dorothy Krumperman in St. Joseph''s Catholic Church, Ogden, Utah. She preceded him in death in January 2000.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the 658th Field Artillery Battalion as a staff sergeant.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also a member of Council 777, 4th Degree Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as past State Deputy, and a member of B.P.O.E Golden Spike, Utah Lodge #719 American Legion. He served as secretary and treasurer for the Union Pacific Old Timers Club for ten years.

Henry worked for the Ogden Union Railway & Depot, Union Pacific Railroad & St. Benedict''s Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 1976 from the Engineers office. He was a volunteer for Goldenwest Credit Union for 40 years where he served on various committees including 20 years as a member of the Board of Directors.

He enjoyed regular outings to Wendover, hunting, fishing and golf. He played golf for many years with the Railroaders.

Henry is survived by his daughter, Carol Lynne (Gene) Smith, South Ogden; two grandchildren, Ryan A. Smith and Darren W. (Candice) Smith; a great-granddaughter, Aleia; a nephew who was like a son, Patrick E. Poce; and several other nieces and nephews.

Including his wife he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to Manor Care, and Life Path Hospice, especially Lisa and Susan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5500 South, South Ogden, Utah.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family respectfully suggests donations be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, in Henry''s name.
