Herbert “Bert” Dalton Adams, 73, passed away on February 24, 2025, due to complications from cancer. Born on February 16, 1952, in Kingman, Texas, Bert lived a life full of warmth, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Bert graduated from Flomaton High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of West Pensacola. He was a man of faith and service, dedicating time to a mission in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. Bert was a high priest and very active in the LDS church.
His first marriage was to Lori Bell, with whom he had three sons: Sean Adams, Cory Adams, and Barry Adams. Though they later divorced, Bert’s love for his family remained steadfast. He later married Barbara “Babs” Wade, embracing her five children—Tonya Dean, David Wade, Desiree Zaugg, Monica Alvarado, and Michelle Wade—as his own. Together, Bert and Barbara were blessed with a son, William Adams. Bert and Babs were sealed for time and all eternity at the Salt Lake City temple.
A proud and loving grandfather, Bert, cherished his 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He found joy in family gatherings, sharing stories, and making those around him feel welcomed and valued.
Bert had a natural gift for sales and an even greater gift for making friends. His presence lit up any room, and his ability to connect with people was one of his greatest strengths. He was a stranger to none, always ready with a smile, a kind word, or a helping hand.
Not only was he a great father and husband, but he also had a heart of gold and was generous to all he met. As an example of his generosity, he would hide money in the pockets whenever he donated clothing.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family and friends will miss him dearly, but they take comfort in knowing his warmth and spirit will never be forgotten.
