Herbert Christensen

Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Herbert Julius Christensen, was reunited with his beloved wife, Delphia, on Monday, December 2, 2013. He finished his journey here on earth after 98 years. He was born to Soren Christian and Caroline Christine Jensen Christensen in Moroni, Utah on March 5, 1916.

He married his high school sweetheart, Delphia Zina Jolley on January 2, 1935 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were able to spend 62 wonderful years together before Delphia passed away on August 9, 1997.

Herbert was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully on the Stake High Council, in a Bishopric, and as an Elder''s Quorum President.

Dad was a "Ford Man". He started out in Cedar City working for Hunter Ford as a mechanic. He then moved to Ogden with Hunter Ford, which later became Ogden Ford Sales and eventually Westland Ford. He loved automobiles from working on them to selling them. He was the oldest licensed car salesman in Utah.

In his younger years Dad played baseball. He had a love for the outdoors which led to countless fishing trips to Strawberry and Flaming Gorge with his family. Hunting was also a big part of his life. He enjoyed going on elk and deer hunting trips with his son and grandsons. Dad loved his dogs, especially his hunting dogs and later developed a special bond with his cat, "Gracie". Later in his life he enjoyed working on and sharing the family history.

Dad will always be remembered as having a smile on his face and a listening ear. He had a special way of always making you feel important. Dad loved people, he was always there with a helping hand.

Dad, You lived your life for others a" and loved without condition, You made so many laugh a" your smile will not be forgotten You''ve left behind an empty place a" that no one else can fill Your friends and family miss you a" and they forever will So now that you''re not here a" and feel so very far away We can find comfort in knowing we will be together one day Your love, it keeps us going a" for you we will be strong The memory of your laugh and smile keeps us moving on... Love, Your Family

Herbert is survived by his son, Boyd (Kay) Christensen, South Ogden; daughters, Merna (Don) Critchlow, Ogden; and Laura (Gary) Dawson, Ogden; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and his cat "Gracie".
