Herman Cottrell Blamires

Herman Cottrell Blamires passed away on August 27, 2011. He was born April 24, 1914 in Kaysville, UT to George L. and Alberta Cottrell Blamires. He was the eldest of eight siblings who have all preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Davis High School. He married Elaine Barton on October 22, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away on June 25, 1971. He later married Donna Rigby in the Ogden LDS Temple on May 5, 1972.

Herman served three years in the US Army Air Corps in Europe during WWII where he was an aircraft electrician. After returning from the war he worked for Kaysville City as an electrician, line foreman and city building inspector. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and served in numerous callings. As a young man Herman was a missionary in the Central States Mission. Later he and his wife Donna served a mission in the Philippines.

Herman is survived by his wife, Donna, and his son, George (Sandy) Blamires. He has five step-children, four grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday, August 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main.

The family would like to thank the staff of the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home for the care and concern shown to Herman.
