– Herm Udink, 91, returned to his Heavenly Father and eternal sweetheart on Monday, February 14, 2011.
He was born March 7, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to George and Grace Udink. He was raised in the
Wilson Lane area. He had many good memories of friends and family. He loved farming and animals, raising goats and rabbits for many years. As a young man, he enjoyed riding in local rodeos, competing in saddle bronc riding.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
On November 6, 1944, Herm married his sweet wife, Lenora Fuit. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They started their life together in Clinton and later moved to Sunset. They had four children, Ron (Eileen) Udink, Taylor; Allen Udink, (deceased), Linda (Wes) Smith, Roy; and Mark (Shanna) Udink, Clinton. He was loved and adored by 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will miss him and his quick wit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, five brothers, and one sister. He is survived by seven siblings, Mary Thomas, Nora Ferrebee, Emma Bruce, Grace Campbell, Martha Jacobs, Melvin Udink, Henry (Tom) Udink.
Herm drove long haul trucks for many years and then worked for Davis School District as a custodian at Clearfield High and Sunset Jr. High. He was an active member of the Country Pines Branch of the LDS Church and had a deep love of the gospel.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old westerns, reading church books, and sitting outside in the sun on warm days.
We will always remember his wonderful gardens, his cute smile and those dimples, and the wisdom that he taught us.
Thanks to Country Pines and the Davis Hospital for their care, and to all those who have given comfort and support through this difficult time.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 18th at 2 p.m. at the Clinton City Cemetery,
750 West 800 North.
The family will meet with friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
