Hester T. Roessler “Lani”
ROY – Our mother, grandmother and friend, Hester Tomoko Yamaguchi Roessler “Lani”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, just four months after her husband.
Mom was born March 26, 1922 in Olaa, Hawaii, to Genchi and Shigeyo Shibamary Yamaguchi. She had six sisters, one brother, two half-sisters and two half-brothers.
Mom loved the outdoors enjoying fishing, hunting, and working in her yard. She was always cooking and wanted to feed everyone who came to visit. She loved her neighbors, friends, her children and doted on her three grandsons.
Lani married William Joseph Roessler on February 6, 1953 in Japan. Together they had three children and resided in South Ogden for 20 years before moving to Roy where they lived for over 30 years surrounded by good friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her son, Willie Jay (Kathryn) Roessler, her daughter, Rita Roessler, and her grandsons, Tyler (Randee) Roessler, Kevin Roessler, and Nathan Roessler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and her daughter, Paula.
Special thanks to Hospice for Utah, especially to Brett Tassone and Debbie Roest, who lovingly cared for mom over the past few months.
Graveside services will be held Monday, October 12 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
