Hillegonda van Hulst Delight (Connie Delight)

LAYTON – Hillegonda (Connie) van Hulst Delight, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 10, 1928 in Rotterdam, Netherlands and is the daughter of Gerrit Tys and Tryntje Catherine Storm van Hulst.

Connie married Cornelius H. Delight on May 28, 1947 on Rotterdam, Netherlands.

She was a member of the LDS Church serving in various positions including, the choir, Primary Teacher, Relief Society Counselor and Secretary, chorister, Stake Dance Instructor, MIA President and Sunday School Coordinator.Connie was the Owner of Hyko-Dutchmaid Certified Building Maintenance & Dutchboy Carpet Cleaners.

She was musically talented and loved singing and playing the organ.  Her other talents include knitting, crocheting, sewing and bowling.  Many memories were made at her cabin in Bear Lake and Christmas at Grandma’s was always magical.

Surviving are her husband Cornelius H. Delight, Layton; children, Thelma Delight Whitaker, Elvera Delight, David Neil Delight, 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, brother,  Armand van Hulst, sisters, Leah Newhouse, Trudy Dyring, and half-sister, Erika van Hulst.

Preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joanne Hancock Goerzen, brothers, Arent van Hulst, George van Hulst, Frans van Hulst and son, Carl H. Delight.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Dawson Hollow Ward Chapel, 2435 E. 1500 No. (Off Cherry Lane) Layton.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
