Hiroshi Okuda
1926~2009
WEST POINT – Hiroshi Okuda, 82, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at home of cancer.
Hiroshi was born May 5, 1926 in Clearfield, Utah to Harugo and Kumaye Tokuhira Okuda. He married Mary Ilean Sutton on December 28, 1962.
Hiro was raised and educated in Syracuse, Utah, and graduated from Davis High School. He worked briefly at Hill Field and was a farmer all his life.
He enjoyed baseball, pitching for the Nisei Vets, fishing with his dad, bowling, Utah Jazz games and going to casinos to win a few bucks.
Hiro is survived by his wife of 46 years, sister Kaye Aoki, Salt Lake City, brother Tubber (Mary) Okuda, Bountiful, many nieces and nephews and step-children, Robert, David, Rebecca Sutton, Sara Holton, and Leeann Griffith, all of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Barbara Aoki and Amy Yamane and brother Masao Okuda.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
