Horace J. “Sam” Bass left his mortal existence to join his eternal companion and his Savior on Tuesday, November 24. 2009.
He was born April 30, 1927 in Jacksonville, Florida, a son of William L. and Gladys E. Bass.
On January 12, 1952, Sam married Colleen Bingham in Ogden. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS on March 12, 1961. Colleen preceded him in death.
He served for 23 years with the U.S. Air Force and 20 years as a civilian at Hill Air Force Base.
Sam was a member of The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints where he held many positions.
Surviving are his son, Gary (Gina) Bass, Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Carleen Ricks, Roy, UT; grandchildren, Tammy, Alexis, Jason, Nikkol, Kyle, Cody, Aimee, Tanya, Jessie, Jeremy and Mandy; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Bass of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen, daughters, Christine Thornton and Laurel Ann Lundgreen, son, James J. Bass, a grandson, Justin M. Bass, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Family Tree Assisted Living Center for their kind and gentle care they provided him the past six months.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 4 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
