Hortence L. Hovey Layton a€" Hortence L. Hovey, 79, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Rocky Mountain Care Center.

Hortence was born December 21, 1930 in Afton Wyoming the oldest daughter of Lyle and Ruth Lemmon. She married Spencer Hovey on October 2, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 9, 1959.

Hortence was an active member of the LDS Church. She and Spencer served seven LDS Church missions together.

Hortence loved to paint and painted some beautiful oil paintings. She loved to crochet and made many afghans'' to give to family and friends. She enjoyed camping and any activity that involved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Spencer, three sons, Sam (Gale) Hovey, Michael (Janet) Hovey, Chadd (Patricia) Hovey and daughter, Carol Crane, 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter JoAnna Hovey.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. The family will meet friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Logan City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
